Sometimes the screen on my SX-64 “portable” C-64 feels like a postage stamp.
I'm very fond of some of the new C-64 games that are coming out, like the charming (and hard!) platformer The Bear Essentials, and the scatalogically hilarious DOG!
So, I guess I'll be seeing you all at World of Commodore 2017, then?

If these graphics were possible on the Commodore64, how come none of the games we used to play on them in elementary school looked this good?

They're drawn in the C64's hires mode(s) which are hard to animate fast enough for satisfactory gameplay, and which eats a lot of memory.
(A few exceptions: Elite's 3D wireframes were was hires mode I think; as were the Lucasfilm/Lucasarts fractally-generated Rescue on Fractalus!, The Eidolon, and Koronis Rift.)

Crikey, I played so many of those good games. Just remember, for every awesome SID chiptune you hear, there was at least one atonal (unintentionally so, often) hunk of unmusical swill out there. Probably about 80% of those were mine, BTW.
(It also, along with some of the MSX computers (LGR review), looked incredibly like dorks like me thought cyberdecks ala Gibson thought they would look like.)

Because Air Canada and our very expensive privately-owned ATC. If you can do a stop-off and come in via YTZ or YHM, cheaper still. Buffalo's also 90 minutes by car from the venue.

Anyone remember the Vic 20? For those of us that couldn't afford the Commodore 64, the Vic 20 was a more affordable option. It had a whopping 5 KB of RAM. lol

One of my kids gave me a C64 for Christmas, last year. He didn't realize it was rather useless without things like software or a disk drive. ::sigh:: (he's impulsive and a fosterling)

I had a Vic 20! I think it cost my parents about $400 back in 1981 or so, which is astonishing in retrospect. I thought it only had 3K RAM, actually; I ran out of memory once trying to program a D&D character sheet generator. I did eventually get an expansion cartridge that added another few kilobytes.
