Chapelier Fou, the musical mad hatter from France

Chapelier Fou (fr.wiki; Mad Hatter via auto-translation) is the stage name of Louis Warynski, a multi-instrumentalist who composes complex pieces on violin, mandolin, harp and various electronic pieces and synthesizers, as you can see in this live clip of "Darling, Darling, Darling" as a solo piece in 2009, and for some proper madness, an augmented live video, featuring more artists accompanying Warynski and delightfully weird, surreal animations. You can find more videos from his YouTube channel, and most of his discography (Discogs) on Bandcamp.

Note: the "proper madness" video and accompanying music is isn't frenetic, but really, really beautiful, IMHO.

This is lovely and so very French. I'm liking the body paint in the augmented live video, it creates a certain connection across the performers that's subtle but effective.

Huh, I've just been (re)listening to Muance this evening, one of my favourite discoveries in the past few months. I know very little about Chapelier Fou, so thanks for the links.

Great listening, thanks, filthy light thief! Listening alone doesn't give me a "weird music" impression at all -- I'll have to check out the videos later when I can but the small sample I saw with them performing on the green roof is pretty neat (and I'd love to play on a roof like that sometime).
