Round 2: Robotgirl gina vs. Riothero mark In the Great Blog Off, the contest is already heating up before the battle has even begun. I just wonder what the topic will be...

The cheats that used to be at the bottom of the blogoff page apparently were too much for Vox Populi to handle; the VP servers are struggling right now. (If you're looking for them, though, the cheats are now gone, so that VP can recover.)

Speaking as an extremely embittered victim of the Great Blog-Off, I'm somewhat conerned that the same person responsible for the "half-assed" (his own words) voting process that killed Vox Populi's server is now blogging about "alternatives to the Webbys". I suggest strongly that if the "weblog community" ever does get together to organize some kind of "weblog Sundance festival", that all the planning and organization be done at a time when the Mad Ausralian is somewhere in the Outback, a minimum of 140 miles from the nearest Internet connection. In the meantime, I'll be working on something that I think will unite the entire weblog universe... if only in an effort to have me lynched.

oooh, spiteful foop. you are harsh and mean.
the poll has been reset, and now requires cookies, if anyone cares. VP also recovered, thank god. Sorry Phil.
As for the alternative to the webbies, there are already some people raising hands to be involved. c'mon foop, with you behind it, it'll really get the credibility it needs. (I sure hope your sarcasm tags are working).

There's something very symbolic in the way that the weblog nation manages to break one of Philip Greenspun's community tools. And not necessarily symbolic in a good way.

Sheez, Wendell, are you trying to prove that you can at least whine better than the internook guy? Or just trying to become more irrelevant than he is? (Of course, I probably have the latter "honor" all sewn up.)

Wendell:

Are you really embittered? (This is a serious question.) if so, why? I'm just curious as to how the blog-off can generate hostility and bitterness.

I think that would require, at a bare minimum, taking something called a "blog-off" seriously.

Please, please. Let's not let this forum turn into another Slashdot. Behave, kiddies.
