Anyone who was watching that night was shrieking, I promise.

I Think About This a Lot: When Kimberly Shaw Ripped Off Her Wig on Melrose Place. It would not occur to me until years later that Kimberly’s revenge plot was a more sane reaction to her circumstances than I’d given her credit for. Watching today, Kimberly’s anger feels righteous and well earned.

That's literally the only thing I remember from that show, it was a pretty indelible moment.

I was a devoted Melrose Place viewer back in the day, but now I only really remember two things about it: when they wimped out on showing a gay kiss after hinting and hyping it for weeks, and the FrankenKim reveal. Yes, I was shrieking that night.

Between this and the discussion of the 1994 Winter Olympics women's figure skating in the I, Tonya thread, MetaFilter is really firing up all the "Important TV Moments From the Second Half of My Freshman Year of College" today. And yeah we were SHRIEKING at the time.

The piece puts into words stuff that was definitely under the surface at the time too. Kimberly was allegedly the villain and we were supposed to think she was "crazy" but there's a reason why when she blew up the titular apartment complex the next season those of us who were still watching the show were rooting for her to get them all. (RIP secondary character who I didn't remember until I looked it up online just now.)

It may not even be hyperbole that EVERYBODY watching screamed.

I‘ve never seen the show, but I‘m intrigued. How does she revenge herself and what did the wig scene reveal? (as in...were viewers not aware before that she was the „dead“ ex?

What, and no link to the video of the amazing moment? Here ya go.

Know what? As a dude with a similar (albeit less dramatic) scar I know who I'm going to be for Halloween next year.

Viewers were not previously aware of the massive extent of her injuries and that she was hiding them.

Oh shit I remember this, I said "Holy Fuck" out loud in front of my high school girlfriend's mom. She just got up and walked out of the room. Was she mad at me, could she not deal? I'll never know.

I watched enough of this show that I remember the arc she refers to where it went from kind of a grown-up 90210 to one where stuff like this happened and people got murdered in boat explosions.

It's really unexplainable without watching it all. Just watch it.

Anyone else remember Season 1 when Dr Mancini and his wife were just renters scraping by by acting as the complex managers. Before Kimberly and before Sidney. It was so sweet and wholesome. Hahahaha

SO BORRRRING. And my stupid sister watched it because of stupid Grant Show and his stupid shirtless fridge opening.

And then she stopped watching it, and I started watching it because it got SO GOOD.
