Dan Hett, whose brother Martyn was killed in the Manchester Arena bombing, has created a hypertext game based on his experience in the aftermath of the attack. [CN: terrorism, death, grief].
Hett has spoken out about his experiences with far right extremists, the press, the politicisation of the tragedy and the findings of a review into the circumstances of the terror attack.

I was going to make a rather dispassionate remark about how innovative a way this is for dealing with grief, but I am just stunned. Stunned.

I've never seen anything so immersive. I've never felt as drawn into something. I've never seen someone else's love for another person communicated so strongly. I'm … I'm … wow … breathless, I guess.
I've seen a bit of Dan's posting in other places about Martyn, and he seems (and Martyn seemed) to be pretty much the kindest person you could meet. He gives you hope in the world.
This has touched me, is what I'm saying. And I didn't even get past 9 o'clock in the morning on the day after.

Oh man, I made it all the way through to the rose and the light. Then it became hard to breathe. Walking with someone through a glimpse of their grief - painful.

I'm not sure I've ever read fiction that immersive. I also closed it on the morning after... like I could handle the initial shock in the heat of the moment, but not actually reading about living with the aftermath.

Shit. I forgot how damn emotional text-based games can be. This is painfully good work.
