Damn 2017 sucked. This isn't even all, every time I see one of these lists there's people on there I forgot happened in 2017.

Sad subject matter, but a lovely and touching treatment.

Also, love he stepped away from his usual stylization.

And more .

I saw "Farewell" and the name "Sienkiewicz", and just for a second, I thought ...

Very glad to see I was wrong. These are terrific - particularly the Harry Dean Stanton, John Hurt and Adam West portraits.

Wow, these made me cry. They captured so much of what we lost.

Every time I see a portrait of his I find myself wishing I was noteworthy enough to get one of my own. I don’t want fame itself and I don’t care about having fuck-you money (though I wouldn’t mind it), but having a portrait by him would be a hell of a thing.

Oh, that Mary Tyler Moore is absolutely lovely. What wonderful work.

Probably a good place to drop the TCM Remembers video for 2017.

Why not contact the man and ask if he'd be interested in accepting a commission? I doubt the price for a pen and ink portrait would be astronomical, and he's evidently well-practiced at working from photographs. Add a little patience as you wait for the job to work to the top of his "to-do" pile, and your wish could come true.

Yeah, IIRC Jaime Hernandez does portrait commissions starting at less than $100, so it might not be such a crazy idea.

Seconding the love for the MTM pic, she was so beautiful.

Just to add, I've commissioned some beautiful work from comic book artists before, and it can be surprisingly affordable. It's a very rewarding way to spend whatever spare funds you mat have available, and helps some very talented folk to pay the bills too. More of us should do it.
