My First Hundred Years

The Z List Dead List podcast talks to Brenna Hassett about Margaret Murray, leading Egyptologist-cum-folklorist/influential folklorist-cum-Egyptologist (you pick).

Margaret Murray was the first female archaeology lecturer in the UK, and taught generations of Egyptology students at UCL's Institute of Archaeology. As well as her prolific academic output, she did much to communicate Egyptology to the general public.

Her research into folklore is controversial, but formed the basis for the contemporary Wicca religion.

She was also a feminist, women's rights activist and suffragette. When she was 100, she wrote her autobiography "My First Hundred Years". Her curse on the Kaiser may have won WWI for the British.

Previously.

Brenna Hassett is one-quarter of the excellent TrowelBlazers. Previously.

I'm delighted to hear Z-List Deadlist is back. It's an excellent podcast with a rhyme that doesn't work transatlantically (much like Squirrel Girl in that respect), and hosted by my long held casting choice for Doctor Who.

I'll look forward to my next commute in anticipation!

Wait, hold up. Squirrel Girl is meant to be a play on words? I guess that does rhyme in an American accent...

Z-List Deadlist looks like exactly my kind of podcast, and I've wanted to learn more about Margaret Murray for a while, so thanks! I'll check this out tonight. :)

I admit I have spent most of today trying to make Squirrel Girl rhyme, which shows how bad my American accent is. So thanks for that Just this guy, y'know.

Here is how to pronounce it. Sorry for the total derail.
1:48 for British English
2:16 for US English
3:01 for Australian English (which is basically just the British Way)
