Can we just admit that we're hoping for the aliens because it might give us an option of which planet to live on?

Heck, I thought we were hoping for benevolent technological overlords who would rule with an iron fist. I mean, not that I was. I wasn’t.

I appreciate this post because I had lately been seeing a few people complaining, in so many words, “we basically just discovered aliens but no one is paying attention.” I had no idea what that was about, and the last section of this article helps somewhat.

Heh, Lee Billings published this article the day before our big press release on Fast Radio Bursts, which he wrote about the next day.

FRBs fit right in with the theme, though - the NYT article brings together FRBs and Tabby's Star with "it isn’t turning out to be a great year for E.T. — at least not so far."

Indulge my humblebrag - I'm quoted an embarrassing amount.

They're great! They even wrote a book for us!

I'm afraid of us finding aliens because let's face it, the Republicans would nuke/shoot them into oblivion if they land. When we have a culture who can't even deal with their same species having slightly different skin tones and genitalia, we sure can't deal with aliens.

Well, here's the first alien sighting for this year, and I want to know why he's got jet packs and we don't!

You have a point there, but why does everyone assume aliens are compassionate creatures? For all we know, they could blast us and harvest us for some kind of technology. Their bodies might not be the only thing that's different, but also the function of their psychology, and even morality.
