Turn the world into a library. Have you found a book recently?

i scoffed at this at first glance because of it's apparent similarity to wheresgeorge.com, which i find annoying. turns out it's really neat. i went book hunting the other day and found there were 6 books released within a mile of my apartment and 3 more where i work.

hunt for a book in your country/state/city

register a book

so, the way it works is you register the book you plan to release, announce the release, and wait for someone to find it and (hopefully) respond. sounds like a neat way to 1. get folks to read 2. meet readers in your area 3. have fun!

Oh, what remarkable timing. I was practically ready to build some extra furniture out of my piles of "overstock" but this is a far better idea.

This is about the coolest thing I've seen online. I'll start releasing books today.

Wow! This rocks. I just released something into the world only moments ago. I wonder who will find it and where it will go?

note to readers:
the first link i posted in my above comment will log you into my account at bookcrossing.com. upload a funny picture if you want, but 1 book has already been released in my name and i don't want anyone to be sad when they don't see their released book in their own account.

the proper link for book hunting is: http://www.bookcrossing.com/hunt
