The Lewis and Clark Bridge Is Just Shy of 88. Will it make it?

The historic cantilever bridge, originally called the Longview Bridge, is currently closed due to a bomb scare. The Coast Guard has closed the area to marine traffic as well. I'm kind of hoping that this year's squirrel bridge might be a tribute.

I love bridges- I hate bomb threats. I hope this is just the work of a few idiots or an accidental leaving of backpacks and not explosives. The squirrel bridge (magnificent.) reminds me of some of the footage of squirrel monkeys from Costa Rica my primate behavior professor showed me- where a rope bridge for the monkeys was put above the roads in order to prevent vehicular monkey-slaughter. (Coatis use it too!)

I love bridges- I hate bomb threats.

A bold stance, but I'm glad someone finally stood up and said it.

Wait until the contrarian thinkpiece in this weekend's NYTimes.

I'm assuming this may have been a prep for a protest, not a bombing. Similar to the 2015 event where protestors suspended themselves from the St Johns Bridge.

I'm hoping if it was someone setting up for a protest, their lack of presence right now is not because they fell, but were scared off by the cops.

I love bridges, Lebowski's Jeff and Airplane's Lloyd and Mikel of Villanova is performing spectacularly in the NCAA and did you know Ludicris' "real" name was Christopher Bridges? Yep, I love bridges almost as much as puns. If somebody were to try to bomb the Lewis and Clark Bridge, it'd probably be an illiterate DC Comics hater who thought it was Lois and Clark. If one end of the bridge is in Longview, does that put the other end in Shortview? And if one end is in Rainier, is the other end in Lessrainy? And don't say the bridge is cantilever; I bet it could ilever if it really tried.

I love a story where the ending is “meth head” versus terrorist. Say what you will- it’s very America

Extreme sarcasm/Hamburger on that last comment. *sigh*

I'm pretty sure Chris Bridges is still Luda's real name.

Nope, the other end is in Rainiest.

On that bridge you get tweaker arbitrage. Taxes are lower on cigarettes on the Oregon side, and the meth market shifts depending on supply and enforcement.
