Scrapnought (SYLT) building an acoustic guitar from scrap wood.

Really wish I had the skill, time and equipment to do this sort of thing, though I'd probably use a gnarlier, more worn kind of wood so it still looked reclaimed once it was finished.

Bob Taylor of Taylor Guitars made one of these several years ago; the Taylor Pallet Guitar. Taylor is a well known, respected guitar builder.

The original was so popular as a story that Taylor made a limited run of collectable guitars later.

Also, orphaned pianos are an abundant, inexpensive, and ethical source of all kinds of material no one should be buying new: rainforest hardwood, dead-animal ivory, you name it.

I made a calliope out of a old pump organ keyboard and a lot of copper water pipe.
