TiddlyWiki is still around

Long ago, MeFi users iffley and BuddhaInABucket introduced all of us to TiddlyWiki, a self-contained personal organizer and wiki implemented entirely in Javascript, no server required: changes were stored in the page's source itself, which could be saved in its current state with the click of an icon. That was 2004. Now it's 2018, and not only is TiddlyWiki still running, but it's more flexible than ever....

You now have the choice of running it self-contained as before (although you'll have to specify a filename when you choose to save it), or from a local web server installable through node.js, or through a taskbar-running process, or on iPhone or iPad, or Android for that matter, or with a helpful browser extension, or hosted from Dropbox. That's the new, rewritten version, called TiddlyWiki5; the old version, now called TiddlyWiki Classic, is still available.

TW also supports "tagging" tiddlers (its name for individual pages), specifying categories, and different kinds of markup. When using a server, content is saved as ".tid" files, which are easily-readable text files. And yet, it's still the simple and efficient note-taking tool it's always been, allowing users to make notes, easily linking them to each other using either CamelCase or [[other means|square brackets]]. Try it out, why not?
