In an ongoing series, Disney Dan painstakingly documents the evolution of Disney theme park costumes: Mickey, Donald, Pluto, Minnie, Goofy, Dumbo, Chip & Dale, Daisy, Winnie, Pinocchio, Tigger, and Peter Pan.

Someone should make a left-to-right "Evolution of Man" graphic for each character's transformation over time, to print on T-shirts.

Yeah, I hear Disney's pretty lax about their trademark and copyright enforcement, not really a litigious company at all.

Maybe in 250 years, when that stuff enters the public domain.

Why the focus on male customers (11 male vs 2 female)? Has there just not been a dramatic shift if the way female costumes are presented? That would be interesting compared to real world fashion trends where male fashion has been relatively static while women's fashions can actually be nailed down to a specific year.

RELEVANT TO MY INTERESTS.

Also, saucysault, the princess costumes have changed a lot, in very interesting ways, so hopefully that's on the docket for the future. I notice that Peter Pan is the only "face" (as opposed to "fur") character in this lineup, so maybe he just started with fur characters, which I think have a longer history in the parks? I don't know!

Also you could totally get into the Fairy Godmother and Queen of Hearts and probably other "secondary" female characters who have switched back and forth between face and fur costumes, depending on location and sometimes event, and occasionally with absolutely terrifying results.

Unfortunately the talking Mickey is leaving the meet n greets. Budget cuts are a factor, and also there are rumors that the cast members were suffering neck strain/injury from the extra weight of the animated head.

It's unfortunate, as my son really loved meeting Mickey when we visited.

When I was a kid, I once had a nightmare in which the disney characters were stalking my family with knives and axes while we all slept. At the end of the nightmare, presumably just before I woke screaming (but I don't really remember what happened next), I was hiding in my bed, watching through the covers as Goofy paced down the hall, dripping knife held in front of him, paused, and looked directly at me.

The costume at 58s in the relevant video is spot. on.

My parents have a picture of me meeting the Big Bad Wolf at Disneyland in 1966 when I was old enough to toddle around. Theoretically I should be terrified, but I look absolutely delighted.

Logicpunk, do yourself a favor and don't look into Bendy and the Ink Machine, which tries very hard to tap into that exact imagery.
