A doggy daycare/kennel here in the Great Smoky Mountains holds play groups outside... in the creek. Unfortunately, no livestream but here are a few compilation vids.

I wish I had whatever it is that makes people so heartwarmed by dogs, let alone mere imagery of them. Not that this link even loads for me, but I just don't feel the same excitement or comfort others seem to in dogs.

Not that this link even loads for me,

It takes a bit to load.

Unfortunately, designated as malicious by my employer for some reason.

For me, I think it would have to be cats.

GoblinHoney, I think the whole "puppers and kittens" thing boils down to escapism. We really just need a break from multi-level marketing stories and more political stupidity. Something fuzzy might give me enough strength to wade through the post on capitalism, for instance.

I made a mistake and tried to download the image file as, well, an image file.

Please don't make the same mistake I did. Screenshot!

I just wanted some token reminder of the day's cuteness on my harddisk...

I can't speak for anybody else, but I like dogs because dogs are good. Inherently, reliably, fundamentally decent creatures.

We were out for a bike ride today. On a path through a forest, parallel to a road, halfway between a small town and a village, but nowhere near anywhere. I looked up and there was a dog in the middle of the road who had no business being there. Cars were dodging around him.

We jumped off our bikes and got the dog to come to us. He was barely more than a pup. Stressed, confused, skittish. But we have a young dog of our own, so we knew how to deal with him. Pretty quickly we had a rapport going. I gave him water from my bottle and my wife had him sprawled on his back getting his belly tickled.

Long story short, after about 45 minutes his owners appeared. They were walking in the forest and he just shot off. He'd been gone for about three or four hours. Turned out his name was Bruce, but he couldn't tell us that.

He was just a kind, trusting soul in need of help, and I'm glad we were there to provide it. Dogs are good, and they make us better, and that's why I like them.
