Attack of the Clones (really). The Italian fertility expert (...) said on Wednesday three women were pregnant with clones. In this interview published in the French daily Le Monde, he also says they will be born between December 2002 and January 2003. What good can we make out of this ?

I wonder what super-powers they will have?

i think the first generation of clones only has wussy mind-control-power, version 2 always has the death-ray-from-eyes though.

i hope they make them wear storm trooper suits!

No one's a bigger proponent of cloning or what it will bring us than I, but these kids will almost certainly be deformed in some way, and lead short, unpleasant lives. The technology just isn't there yet for human use.

I just wish they'd had the sense to use Alexis Bledel's genotype, in case it works.

dong_resin: how you know the Italian technology is not there yet?

none of the animal clones in the news were one-time tries... people aren't good enough at it to make it work anywhere near reliably in other animals, much less humans.

it's possible they won't be deformed, lets hope, it's also possible that the deformed ones have been aborted etc

"how you know the Italian technology is not there yet?"

Know anyone whose Ferrari hasn't been in the shop?
