I am relatively positive that I just watched bulimic porn... I don't doubt that she ate it, but she's either hosed/is hosing her metabolism or she is an expert at early retrieval. And to see the number of videos posted and the search for more viewers... this is exhibition - she wants the world to see and to not wonder or to wonder - where does all that go... which is a totally crazy level of crazy.

OK, I'm not sure why you would deep fry onigiri from 7-11, but it actually looks pretty good. Let's see what else she has on her channel...

Oh...

Oh, honey- no...

That is too many dumplings...

I want some bear face donuts! Probably not 30 though, at least not in one sitting.

This Korean Food Phenomenon Is Changing the Internet -- Meet the American YouTubers who are now trying to cash in on mukbang (Amy McCarthy for Eater, Apr 19, 2017) [Eater isn't a mukbang site, but a general internet food site]

This is not a new thing, and it seems that some people treat it like competitive eating, where they work out and eat light when they're not eating a lot.

Not all people that do mukbang are competitive eaters, but in this case Kinoshita Yuka is actually a professional competitive eater.

A TV show actually investigated this.

If it was normal eating I wouldn't blink, but the fact that it's these quantities that seem to be coded as not just indulgent but grossly overeating... eating disorders tend to come with a pretty strong "disgust" association with food and bodies, so vicarious eating of a normal meal would be something I could see ordinary people enjoying, but this seems to veer off hard into a space where you're simultaneously vicariously overindulging and working yourself up about the grossness of it in order to keep yourself away from real food.

While my stomach sympathy-hurts from watching her consume all those Starbucks sakura items in one sitting, and I am now wondering if she went off and purged afterward, I do kind of wish the milk pudding items were carried in the US.

In general, not a fan of competitive eating shows of any sort. Maybe I'd be okay with them if we lived in a world where kids don't die from malnutrition or lack of clean water on a daily basis. But everyone's different, and whatever floats your boat, I guess.

I thought I would be grossed out by these videos but watched the Starbucks one anyway because I was curious what items were on offer, and it turned out to be ok because I could just imagine her taking one or two bites out of each item and then throwing out the rest, like other professional food-eater types.

Only watched the Starbucks one - I was impressed, or at least less skeeved than I expected to be by how matter-of-factly she just put it all away, given who little tweaking this would take to be in very fetishistic territory. There was less hamming it up and groaning than in Man Vs Food, let alone that end of things.

Yeah. It seems the central role of vomiting is the great taboo of competitive/stunt eating.
