The collection of photographs [by Jayanti Seiler] are part of a photographic essay that began in 2013 titled, “Of One and The Other”, which seeks to inspire consideration of the complexity and depth found in the relationships between animals and humans from all points along a spectrum that spans the chasm from lifesaving to exploitation.

Seeing wild animals in captivity, regardless of the circumstances, always evokes mixed emotions. For so many of these animals, humans are both their greatest threat and their only salvation as a species.

For my bday this year I want to treat myself to a nearby Big Cat Rescue.

I think they understand the heavy issues at hand and respect them for it. But yeah, like tommasz says - their continued existence lies in our hands.

Also - I want to see if my "cat magic" extends to big cats not just housecats.

yeah, but - if all those photos are taken at a county fair or 4-H event, aren't those children planning to kill their animals?
