Magical Voxels

Twitter user @UeVoxel makes charming voxel models of little shops. The software they use is called MagicaVoxel. MagicaVoxel's tutorial video is slightly mesmerizing.

It's a shame my laptop overheats and shuts down a few minutes in, because MagicaVoxel is a delight to use.

Wow, MagicaVoxel is so fun and amazing. I know of an artist (John Allison) that uses SketchUp to help him visualize the backgrounds of his comics. It's not an unusual technique, I suspect. So now I'm thinking I might use this program to do the same thing, since my brain is already attuned to voxels thanks to decades of Lego and Minecraft and MSPaint. It's just so easy and fun to make little diorama-like scenes.
