I've still never heard anything so-clearly walking the line between absurd and profound as Twenty Four Hour Garage People.

"Fuckin' 'Ell It's Fred Titmus"
Back in the DHSS was the first LP I ever bought. HMHB are a stupendous band.

I'm jealous of all the Brits who effortlessly get all the references. Over on this side of the pond, it's like reading Ulysses.

Whuppy - I get some of the references, but even as a Brit, a fair amount is a mystery to me.

Thanks to For What Is Chatteris making an appearance on the Kermode and Mayo podcast I ended up playing it a few times around the house. My then not even one year old son really took to it and loved it. So I learned the lyrics and added it to my rotation of lullabies, where it’s stayed since. I have an inordinate fondness for that song now, and Half Man Half Biscuit in general.

Yes, we live on the Wirral, and it definitely helps, but maybe not as much as you'd hope.

If anyone says they get all the references, especially without googling, then they are a liar, or Nigel Blackwell.
But remember it's the thoughts behind the words that count.
