Singin' to God

Years in the making, Singin' to God, David Minnick's a cappella cover version of Cardiacs' 1995 double album Sing to God has finally been released.
It is ninety minutes of some of the most ingenious and challenging rock-oriented music on earth, arranged and sung by Detroit's legendary singing group: "The 180 Gs". The Gs have managed to remain faithful to the large and small details of Cardiacs' music, even while layering more than 100 voices on each song.
Every musical sound on this album (from the drums and bass to the lead vocals and guitar solos) was created with the voices and bodies of the 180 Gs (with the exception of a kazoo on 1 song and some occasional environmental sounds throughout).

Half of the price of each download will be donated to the fund for Tim Smith's ongoing medical care.

My partner is somewhat obsessed with the Edwin Hawkins singers; she'll be interested in hearing this, too.

At last! I was addicted to the ones he had on Soundcloud. The version of Dirty Boy is absolutely fantastic, at least as thrilling as the original. If I wasn't a very lazy, unsocial, person it would have inspired me to found a progressive rock choir.

I was going to post something earlier this year about the wonderfully successful JustGiving campaign to raise funds for Timmy - originally set to £40,000 the money just kept pouring in (still coming in, actually), currently standing at £108,000, which should help with the specialised care he needs (which was increasingly elusive as the Tories' vile austerity-driven brutality bit harder and harder).

Thanks for posting this! I have an odd affection for Cardiacs' music, in so far I only seem to enjoy it when I've stayed up for too long and it's the early morning hours already.

This will be perfect, I feel like.

I've been looking forward to this too from the first tunes on Soundcloud. Thanks for posting, it deserves a lot of exposure.
