There's a kinda semi-topless one towards the end so might want a nsfw tag

Obligatory Rihanna-in-Guo-Pei link

I had never seen her other work before. It's fascinating. The museum here is doing an Iris van Herpen exhibit which seems similar in thought process, if not theme. Highly sculptural, interesting "dresses".

What a stunning collection! I'm not usually a big fan of sheer stuff, but when it's executed in this purposeful way, I like it. The captions are amazing too. My favorite: This dress just offered me an apple. I think I'm gonna eat it. Same, friend.

I was just coming here to post this! I'm so excited about this collection, it's so bizarre and lovely.

Structural garments like this really show off the precision of couture techniques. I get so distracted looking picturing the interlinings or seam tapings or petersham or chiffon strips. All the painstaking steps that I have to remind myself to zoom out and look at how amazing that it becomes a thing which fits a human body and while not practical can be worn and moved in and so beautiful.

I love a designer collection that displays dresses which are only hints of the dresses within. Collections that are, instead, the clothes themselves playing dress-up at the edges of what technique and fabric and human movement will bear.

That gold dress with the 80's shoulders is EVERYTHING. I live, I die, please bury me in that dress.

Wow, this is beautiful, interesting stuff!

I secretly love impossible fashion, and Guo Pei is great at it. I don't want to wear it but I'm glad I get to look at it.

The Met Gala dress that's linked in the thread is fantastic. Impractical, but fantastic. I remember following along with the Fug Girls during that Gala and the reaction when that hit the red carpet was basically squeals of delight from all of Fug Nation.

Hey, if they ever do a Hellraiser reboot...

This is the one that was giving me Hellraiser vibes.

merriment, that gold dress literally made me sigh out loud this morning in the bathroom. It's INCREDIBLE.

I do worry that many of these models, if they stumbled, would be lucky to just lose an eye.

These are really cool.
I kinda wish I could see them on non-model bodies. I tend to think that about all modern fashion, and I understand that she was going for anti-body pro-architecture. But I think it would be waaaay more interesting to see these on more average human bodies. Seeing the structural forms clash and compliment the biological.

I love the silver outfit, even as I agree that it doesn't quite fit with the rest of the collection. The "onion skin" one is also pretty fab.

I kinda wish I could see them on non-model bodies.

This collection really does seem like a lot of it would have translated well to non-models. Not all of it, since I think a handful of them work due to their narrower lines, but as many look to me like they'd translate well or maybe even better into a broader scale.

The museum here is doing an Iris van Herpen exhibit which seems similar in thought process, if not theme.

Thanks for that link, love it too!

I know these dresses are meant for occasions, but I love the idea of walking into, say, a Starbucks, and encountering one of these.

The gold one looks like you'd see it on a villain in like, Jupiter Ascending, or one of the Marvel movies that's mostly in space.

Several of these are definitely going into my folders for Fashion Inspiration for my comics. Yow.

These need more pockets. There are plenty of places to put pockets on most of these, and then there could be snacks.
