Almost nothing is know of Cuban American Felipe Jesus Consalvos apart from his obsessive body of work—over 750 surviving collages on paper, found photographs, musical instruments, furniture, and other unexpected surfaces—discovered in 1980 some 20 years after his death.

These are fascinating. I really like the four seasons.

This 2008 dissertation looks like an attempt to speculate on Consalvos' biography, influences, and motives based on the art itself.

Thank you, these are really beautiful. The use of anatomical figures is really interesting -- it makes the collages themselves seem like x-rays of history and culture in a way that's fascinating.

These are really amazing. I particularly keep going back to look at The Wisdom Society. So much going on, but so bizarrely cohesive.

I had the pleasure of seeing several of his creations recently, at MONA (Hobart, Australia), as part of the Museum of Everything exhibition. The MoE is a travelling exhibition of 'non-academic artists and private art-makers' (outsider art) works. You can subscribe to their newsletter to find out where they'll be appearing next.
