Noa Smith joins the Rock, Paper, Shotgun video team. She promptly jumps the curb, goes into serious debt, and suffers severe carpal tunnel in Bus Simulator 18. SLYT

I don't know why I love watching these kinds of videos, but I do. I tried playing Euro Truck Simulator and Farming Simulator way back when, probably almost a decade ago, and couldn't get into them, but for some reason watching videos of other people playing is really satisfying.

Although now that Farming Simulator is on Switch, maybe I'll try it again, if it's ever on sale real cheap. I'd prefer American Truck Simulator or Bus Simulator, though.

MetaFilter: surprisingly relaxing. Until I have to make a sharp turn and roll my truck down an embankment and it all goes to hell

That was a fun watch! Clicked out of curiosity, expecting to stick with it for a minute, jump around then close tab, but it kept me interested. I enjoy ETS2, but my poor old machine can't run anything more elaborate, even ATS gets chuggy to the point of unplayability. Really cool to see something a bit more new and fancy in the Simulator genre being played for fun, complete with Saints Row Purple busses, fancy quality horrible weather, the ability for the driver to get out of their seat (no spoilers!) plus the way they showed how the co-op allows for a bit of mischief too. Nice work RPS people all, including whoever did the editing.

I felt the same, Blue. Adding Noa to the staff was a great idea. Here's hoping they can get more subs to the channel and give her more to do long term.

I've been half-listening to this series of Bus Simulator videos while I work, and it's quite soothing. Still can't say why.

Ever since I was a kid, I longed for a video game that would just allow me to drive through the countryside and explore small towns, and maybe even interact with people. No strategy, no gameplay, just an opportunity to see places I would not otherwise see.
