The latest Oglaf is not one, not two, but twenty-four pages long. It depicts the struggle of Kronar, wrathful eagle of blood, against the sorcery of scented candles. I’m still hoping for more Son of Kronar one day. (Some pages probably nsfw, others on the site radically so) Previously. Previouslier.

A new fun thing to do: Google 'frazetta conan', pick your favorite painting where Conan is almost done beating up thirty guys and is by now standing on a pile of the first twenty of them, and have a fresh look at it while imagining that they're fighting over scented candles.

After (15 or more?) years of reading online comics, there are very few that have stayed fresh and clever enough to retain my interest. Oglaf is definitely one of them.

Oglaf has lost nothing over the years but I still pine for more tales of the older characters like Ivan, the Mistress, or Grier. Still, 24 pages of Kronar is a blessed event. VICTORY AT SEA!

I was really impressed by how well this Kronar adventure follows the template of a Robert E. Howard Conan story, beat by beat. (Not that kind of beat.)

Halloween Jack: Grier doesn't have the chin for it. Plus, Grier is also a lesbian, which is its own hurdle.

I've thought that this nameless, but very angry woman is a candidate. Strong chin, solid frame, and while she's certainly more wordy than Kronar she's got the whole dramatic ultra-violence and angersexuality as well. (If I need to tell you these are NSFW at this point...)

I don't think anyone in comics does color better than Trudy Cooper, and that's shown off nicely in the Kronar story. The color is always gorgeous and evocative, and aids the storytelling— e.g. she uses changes of palette to underline a change of time or place.

technically that's true, but Vorpal Blade is really where that arc starts, giving it another page to tie with Cumsprite.
