Thinking Around the Corners, a new but very different creative magazine, launched this morning. The purpose of TAtC to to inspire designers, painters, etc. from the examples of other creatives like writers and poets -- following Duchamp's thought, "I felt that as a painter I was much better off to be influenced by a writer than by another painter." This issue features an interview with Jeffrey Zeldman on what inspires him and how he gets through the creative process.

Why I Am Not A Painter

I like the concept - it seems promising. That Zeldman really gets around, doesn't he?

Duchamp got his inspiration for Nude Descending A Staircase from *yet another source (scroll down a bit) - the very creative physician and physiologist Étienne-Jules Marey. In the 1800s he was a pioneer in the fields of locomotion, flight, and movement.

*note that there are several animations of little naked people in the Eadweard Muybridge section, for those of you at work.

Not Muybridge again. I'll regress and have to be sent home.

As for people at work, if you work somewhere in which they would take offense to your viewing some old Muybridge photos, you should quit. Today.

But if I don't mention the naked people, someone will scold me for not mentioning the naked people. I don't like being scolded for not mentioning naked people.

That's true.

Naked people! Quick! Go look!
