I have to hide this info from the 8 year old. He is too young to test his Keith Richards level of tolerance for mayhem.

At least they're not including the latest movie which includes the extremely disturbing content that is Pikachu suddenly deciding to speak English.

The first series of the TV show is actually surprisingly funny and self aware. The quality of the show went downhill fast, though.

Notably, Pokémon: The Movie 2000 inspired at least one of the great political speeches of the modern era.

I thoroughly enjoyed their Original Doctor Who Marathon (Doctors 1-7), even if a rights dispute lost them access to most of the Dalek episodes...

These Pokémon, these monsters in your pocket. We eat them, yes?

HE KNOWS!

The Dr. Who marathon was just great (i'd always wanted to see more of the classic doctors) and reading and participating in the chat was also a delight. Reading people riffing on the show live was very entertaining.

But I don't think i'm up for another mulit-week marathon, I'll probably tune in here and there just to see what the chat is up to tho.

I still think this was Ash hallucinating. But even if Pikachu was really speaking English, talking Pikachu is now my canon anyways.

Look, as a child Pikachu experienced a traumatic incident involving a Eurasian magpie and now he just repeats its scientific name over and over.[Citation: My uncle works at Nintendo.] He's speaking Latin.

I wonder how many people in the world have even a rough knowledge of that entire story.

Pity the currently airing Pokemon series, Sun & Moon, isn't among it.

I've enjoyed these marathons quite a bit, they've done some really fun ones the last year or so:
• Painting with Bob Ross
• Doctor Who
• Mr. Rogers
• MST3K
• He-Man/She-ra
• Yu-Gi-Oh
I'm sure I'm missing some others, but I'm happy if they continue this trend with other tv shows/films. I wish that some of these larger media companies would lean in and just set up channels where they just loop the entirety of certain shows b/c there are certain IPs that have enough seasons to just keep airing for hundreds up hundreds of hours.

The Pokemon universe story line? A lot. Many people around my age or older don't realize this, but apparently Pokemon surpassed Disney back in the 1990s or 2000s on brand recognition tests and/or gross income.

Globally Pokemon is way bigger than Disney.

"Globally Pokemon is way bigger than Disney."

This is just fuel for my long-standing prediction that before Disney comes to own all popular media and IP, they will start acquiring their peers and rivals -- of which Nintendo and it's Pokemon/Marios/Zeldas/Metroids are prime targets. Honeslty I'll be surprised if Disney doesn't own Nintendo by 2028.
