Why'd she move the fries like that?

Rapper and gourmand Action Bronson reviews the internet's most popular food videos for Bon Appetit's Food Film School (poorly-censored NSFW language).

Munchies seems to be surreptitiously running a contest between Action Bronson and Matty Matheson to find the most irritating person in America. Yet whoever wins, we all lose. Why is his tshirt filthy? Dude, you are going before a camera, try to make sure your tshirt isn't filthy.

"I hoped we learned something here"

Yes. Today I learned that my internal monologue whenever I've accidentally viewed an ASMR video is a brain-sized Action Bronson.

Are there videos of people reviewing the videos of people reviewing videos or is that something we're expected to supply on our own? Maybe someone should mention adding video feed replies to cortex as a possibility for boosting revenue since I guess people like to watch these kinds of things?

I learned that I love Action Bronson and must look up his other videos immediately.

(I like ASMR videos but OH GOD why was she eating those fries LIKE THAT aaargh. I am with you, dude.)

Bon Appetit has been killing it, pretty much half of my cooking video consumption is Brad Leone and Claire Saffitz videos these days.

The other half is Chef John from FoooodWishes dot com wiiiiiiith... (and now if you've watched his videos everything you read for the rest of the day will be in his voice).

Claire is apparently leaving BA for another gig. :(

As much as I like Action Bronson and Matty Matheson, I really hope the “loud and foul mouthed tattooed white guy doing food” trend starts petering out soon. Not that those guys aren’t great cooks or aren’t enjoyable, I just think the shtick has gotten a bit old. I feel like as soon as Action Bronson started doing videos for Munchies there didn’t need to be anybody else, he was already the king of the genre.

Low key, Action Bronson's buddy Meyhem Lauren is the best rapper/cook on Munchies. Because he teaches you how to be respectful towards basil and how you always use a little dried oregano even after discovering fresh oregano, to keep in touch with your roots.

I was really hoping this would be Kalen.

phlyinhpenguin: Here in a BA blog post about having a goodbye party. I'm bereft that we lose the magic of the Brad/Claire work spouse ship

Ugh, that is pretty terrible news.

I'm bereft that we lose the magic of the Brad/Claire work spouse ship

There is always Brad/Vincenzo to fall back on in these dark times.

Seriously, I'm glad that it seems to be an amicable parting, but I am going to miss Claire so much.

On the other hand, I really did not care for Action Bronson at all, but I'm not sure where I'm supposed to know him from or what his appeal is outside of this video. Some of the included videos though... I am all about cauliflower and cheese, but oh my god why would you try that hard for it, why does it need to pretend to be a sandwich.

Because some days if you can't have bread you're weak to the temptations of delicious, amazing buttered and griddled bread and you'll take what you can get.

Have you ever seen his Viceland show, Fuck, That’s Delicious ? I don’t care for the guy, either. For me, he seems to make whatever food he’s doing utterly unappetizing.

Action Bronson is also primarily known as a rapper, and for peppering his lyrics with food references.

The main video in the post isn't one to judge this by, but if you watch more Action Bronson food videos I think it's hard to argue that the guy doesn't genuinely love cooking and sharing a love for cooking, even if you don't care for how he presents that. And he's reaching audiences who might not otherwise get that love of cooking instilled in them. Action Bronson (and Matty Matheson, though they're very different personalities - check out his Canadian food travelogue) is doing great work in my book.

Action Bronson was a chef before he was a rapper. Seems like that should be mentioned somewhere (maybe it's in the video? Can't watch AB from work...)

He was a chef for the Mets before he was a rapper.

I never had heard of Action Bronson before two weeks ago but got around to reading his cookbook and it is surprisingly, not bad. His food perspective is very open to experience and his love for not Manhattan New York neighborhoods deep. What his attraction is a definite geniuneness to food. Also, his inside experience of Kosovo Albanian food from his New York City childhood experience is not one I had read before.

Also, his music videos are hilarious.

I’d never heard of ASMR videos before, but the other day I decided to try something new and order some spot prawn sushi with deep fried heads. When it arrived, I was apprehensive to eat it, so I went on YouTube and found this video, which helped me over the hump. I’m fascinated by the glowing reviews it received.

It warms my heart whenever someone pronounces cauliflower the same way I do.

Ugh. I couldn’t make it through the first video. I can’t stand it when people who apparently can eat everything don’t understand that some people can’t, and mock them for it. Why would you make bread from cauliflower? Because they can’t have bread, for crisssakes. As a vegetarian who, during that difficult first year, used to ask Burger King to make her a whopper junior without the meat just to indulge in something familiar, I empathize.
