Turns out snails are Instagrammy as hell

"This sounds weird, but as you can see, it is actually extremely cool." Chicago-based artist Aleia Murawski (aleia on Instagram), creates imaginative, dollhouse-scale worlds populated with live snails as the vignettes' surprisingly expressive denizens.

Another article about her work provides additional credit to her creative partner, Sam Copeland. Here is a brief interview with the artist, discussing her process. Her website features a tiny, dreamy, dystopian short video. Personal fave: snail on a teensy carousel!

This is SO COOL. I know it's futile to wonder what the snails are thinking, but I bet that one on the carousel is like, "WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON HERE"

Oh. My. God. This is everything I wanted to do as a child and more! My granny had a garden absolutely full of snails and I have a real soft spot for them to this day (if I find any on the pavement on my way home, I carry them to the nearby nature garden for safety.) I've been thinking recently about getting a big tank and trying to keep some, but our flat is small....

Anyway, I was a weirdo snail loving kid and this is my perfect post.

Snails have a soft spot for you, too. Many of them, if you want to be technical.
