Russian photographer Daria Garnik's project Gagarin looks at "the nostalgic traces" of Yuri Gagarin's life in his hometown of Gzhatsk, which was renamed in his honour in 1968.
It's so strange. He was the first person in space and the first person to orbit the earth but in America, we still celebrate the first American in space and the first American to orbit. I hope someday we will celebrate him more than that rapist murder Columbus.

Some of these are so haunting, like this one. And this glimpse of a Soviet moon landing that never came to pass.
