This made me wonder what Google translate knows about odd pronunciations and it immediately got Natchitoches and Etobicoke right. And it could correctly distinguish between Versailles in France and Kentucky, Houston versus Houston Street, and Magdalene versus Magdalene College.

It didn't know the difference between Alachua (the county, uh-latch-oo-uh) and Alachua (the city, uh-latch-oo-ay) though. So its knowledge peters out somewhere between small Louisiana cities and even smaller towns in north Florida.

As good as Siri providing a beatbox backing to this spontaneous raga performed by bored students..

Wait, you don't pronounce Natchitoches "Nah-chee-toe-cheese"?

You got me curious, so I tried and can confirm Google pronounces Absaroka like a tourist. (Real pronunciation is Ab-soar-ka or Ab-soar-key.)

Why is Google Maps so bad then?

Seriously, using Google Maps in Montréal is super anger-making. Needless to say the names aren't pronounced as French, but nor are they pronounced the way an anglo Canadian (or worse, an American) would. It's fingers on a chalkboard horrible.

A-ha's Take On Me covered on a Lada.

Now make it play Led Zeppelin's "Whole Lada Love"!

Brought back memories of SAM on the Commodore 64, and entering 'bdbdbdbdbdbdbdbd' to make it sound like Twiki from the Buck Rogers television programme.

(Real pronunciation is Ab-soar-ka or Ab-soar-key.)

I grew up with more of a Z sound instead of an S, and definitely rhymes with key.

Woah, it got Kuykendahl right ("Kirk-en-doll").
