Origami Wallet

I do believe that is the most impractical wallet I have ever seen (skip to the end and watch them put notes in it).

Oh, a women's wallet, not a billfold as I'd expected. I wondered what they were doing with all those accordion folds.

Very clever, I like origami.

Huh, I think this is pretty cool! It's not hugely less practical than any of a number of other carry-all wallets I've seen (and it's worth noting that Japanese banknotes are significantly stiffer and noticeably larger than American dollar bills). I can't imagine folding one myself, but it's cool that something like this is out there in the world, existing

And when you run out of yen, a couple refolds and you have a little dinosaur.

Before I click on the link, is the video paper-view?

the great thing about this is that you can turn it into a origami folding knife when someone tries to rob you

Very nice.

I almost went to work for a Silicon Valley web startup focusing on origami a few years ago; sadly, they folded.

I want to watch this video, but I also want to keep refreshing this page for the puns... I guess you could say I'm torn.

sadly, they folded.

What would expect from giving creatives access to commercial paper other than a horrendous burn rate and no real value in crease?

That pun was a ripper.

These puns are tearable.

I love puns, but I have been thinking about making an origami wallet out of this 150-foot roll of Tyvek house wrap that I’ve got in my workshop. Now I will be distracted by trying to come up with new puns so....ah, the hell with it.

Impressive technique. I especially like how the two pieces of paper remain stationery when folded together.

flabdablet, thanks. That was remarkable.

Youtube pointed me at The Avalanches.

This is timely, as my husband just walked into the living room and said, "I need a new wallet, do you have one I can use?" And I was like, do you... actually... think... I have a cache of spare wallets somewhere?

Now he can make his own!

Oh, a women's wallet, not a billfold as I'd expected.

Second one looks to be more what you (and I) expected. But I thought the first one particularly had some really clever squash folds. I've had a couple Tyvek wallets and really liked them, so this kinda makes me want to get a roll and make a bunch for people. Then again, I've already got a sewing pattern I banged together after watching the how-it's-made gif at the bottom of this page about a thousand times, and I've still never gotten around to actually putting one together, so I should probably hold off on the bulk Tyvek order.

I tried to come up with some cutting paper pun, but I'm drawing a blank.

As this pun paper trail wears on, it threatens to completely envelope the entire thread.

Fortunately it doesn't seem to have put a crimp in the more serious discussion.

I liked the second vid, but this post could have been padded. There are reams of good origami vids out there. Y'all are papering over this issue.

That's a tissue of lies! Anyway, you could essay an attempt to gather new links - it's not a stationery art form, after all.

Wait, what is this tune from that TISM song? Because it seems to have been used by Andrew Lloyd-Weber.
