100% excellent. I love how modern some of these patterns look, and I'm already looking through them for the next batch of mittens I'm going to knit.

Auspicious coincidence. turtlegirl and I were just discussing cultural knitting patterns the other night. Thanks.

The DigitaltMuseum is a great fashion resource! I've spent many a happy moment drooling over royal dresses. You can filter by "Dräkt".

Great post. Inspires me to actually work on some of my fabric-based FPPs sooner rather than later.

There are so many amazing stranded mitten traditions. I'm partial to Latvian mittens: Maruta Grasmane's Mittens of Latvia book is my current knitting porn.

Not a knitter myself, but this book is on a certain special someone's Christmas list and maybe there's a fancy pair of mittens in the bargain for me sometime in the future.

St. Oops, the guitar mittens in that book are pretty fabulous. Now I just need to find someone who knits ...
