He's…a pretty good boy. Lots of spirit.

In addition to offering training services for pets, Double H Canine Training Academy produces service dogs. Some dogs, however, just aren't cut out for the service life.

Quest dogs have been specifically trained as your family’s Canine Active Protection (CAP) specialist.

This is clearly the first line of a what-could-go-wrong story.

That was epic epic fail.

The grabbing of the tennis balls on the walker was my favorite. One of my dogs would have totally done that. BALL!

He is a very good boy and deserves to live with a family who are tireless ball throwers.

They're completely wrong about him being a failure - they clearly need to retask him to work Wimbledon!

I haven't laughed this hard in weeks. That it's set to "my way" just adds to it. What a precious precious idiot! God I love dogs! (I just about *died* when he almost pulled the fridge down, also- fetching the water bottle and he punctured it! oh noooo!)

He's just so very pleased with himself. "I DID THE TRICK! YAY ME! OMG BALL!"

I've had this dog more than once. My dad lost his dog a couple of years ago who was *this dog* in lab form. He just broke his hip, so I've sent this to him as a sort of "I miss her, but it could be worse!" She was sweet, but she never quite understood that leashes couldn't pass through telephone poles and yet was strong enough to bend chain clips so she could go chase rabbits & squirrels.

I like how the other dogs watch him during the water bottle attempt, you can almost see them shaking their heads.

I, too, needed this laugh. Thank you.

C'mon, when you think about it, isn't it better for him to fetch you the whole fridge than some measly bottle of water?

GLORIOUS.

GLORIOUS.

Oh god. I'm in the depths of marking hell--final exams and research essays--and this gave me a much needed laugh. I just lost it at him grabbing the tennis balls off the walker. And pulling the poor guy in the wheelchair over! Oh lord.

When the wheelchair user has the tennis ball on a fishing-pole overhead and is using the dog as a draft animal, like a cartoon about a donkey following a carrot but MUCH MORE ENERGETIC -- oh, oh, oh.

That is a beautiful cinnamon roll of a dog, too precious for this harsh world.

Clearly, you just need to put the fridge on castors and plug it into a really long extension cord and then you can have the pick of the fridge from wherever you are at the time.

I just watched it again as a reward for finishing a few more exams, and I laughed even harder this time. He has no idea that he's doing anything wrong! He's probably thinking, "What's up with all these other stiffs? This is SO MUCH FUN! Come on, guys!"

This is precious! Just sent it to a friend who is a top-class dog trainer (think Olympic gold medalist for dog stuff). Wonder if he thinks its the dog or the handler...

That is, I believe, a Malinois, the preferred breed for police and war dogs. They are splendid creatures, but not ideal pets unless you can give them a great deal of work.
posted by ckridge at 4:43 AM on December 15, 2018

It’s when he goes for the walker (because tennis balls! who didn’t see that coming?) and his handler just goes “welp” and walks away that made me absolutely lose it. Bless his doofus heart!
posted by palomar at 7:31 AM on December 15, 2018 [5 favorites]

He was having so much fun. I hope he is in a house where they know his favorite game is wheel-chariot with the fishing pole/ball out front.

That made me happy. Thank you!

Yeah, going after the tennis ball on the walker is the best part. It's like, of course. How would anyone expect otherwise? Dog's gotta dog.

Right! He's not made of stone. Tennis balls!

Dogs are the best...

He's just a little too dog to be a service dog. Can you imagine the carnage?

Also, love the end where he jumps and by the twist at the end, you can tell his landing is going to be interesting.

Kinda surprised the tennis balls on walkers don't get more doggo attention in real life TBH.
Also, doggo can haul an entire fridge by himself. Whoa. Hire him out to a moving company maybe?

I was mystified by the bit with the fishing rod / chariot race - what was he supposed to be doing?

My favourite was when the guy let himself fall out of the wheelchair and he didn‘t even notice.
posted by Omnomnom at 11:21 AM on December 16, 2018

I think at that point they had given up on him pulling a wheelchair just because it was his job, so they were amusing themselves by finding a way to get him to pull a wheelchair with a different motivation.
