Rhiannon Giddens has a stunning new song called Mama's Cryin' Long. It's based on a heartbreaking old slave narrative, and the link will take you to Smithsonian Folkways' eight-minute film of the recording session (SLYT). The album is out next February.

Giddens is a generational talent; it's not like we did anything to deserve her, but there she is.

This is great. Thanks for posting it.

Blazingly obvious PSA: If you ever get a chance to see Rhiannon Giddens live, don't hesitate.

Looking forward to this new album!
