Led by the talented Richard Evans and comprised of members of the Chess/Cadet label house band, the Soulful Strings brought skilled musicianship to their distinctive blend of soul, jazz, funk, exotica and sleazy listening. My friend Dave suggested that if they ever did an Austin Powers Xmas movie, the soundtrack is ready.

I feel like I'm back in time at the department store; holding mom's hand and waiting to see Santa for the last time before I aged out of the Santa visit.

This was the music they played on the store sound system. I've never heard it elsewhere .

The flute break in "Sleigh Ride" was worth the entire price of admission. This is truly where disco was born, kids.
