Bald eagle named Justice missing from nest in D.C.: Things appeared to be going fine at the nest, with a hint of spring and new life in the air. Liberty and Justice mated Saturday, experts said, and fertilized an egg. But in that afternoon, a new, younger male eagle showed up at the nest. posted by peeedro (7 comments total) 1 user marked this as a favorite

This administration...

He moved on her like an...eagle, I guess, since apparently we don't have different names for male or female eagles.

Justice saw a sign saying “This way to the egress” and he left.

You just fly from the limb, Tim.
Jump out of the tree, Lee, and get yourself free.

Last year, another pair of bald eagles -- Mr. President and First Lady, who have a nest at the U.S. National Arboretum in Northeast -- had a few days apart during the mating and hatching season.

A new female showed up at their nest and was “mating with Mr. President,” according to experts.

Typical Presidential behavior.

Everyone's reactions show the dangers of these anthropomorphized names for resident wildlife. It seems like a good idea to get people interested in the animals that are able to survive despite our presence, but it's a downer when your involuntary reaction to a story about eagle romance is "GFY Trump". The upside is that maybe headline writers get a chance to publish something like "Mr. President Chokes on Vole, Dies".

Anyway, here's a video of Aaron Burrd showing the exuberance and impertinence of youth.
