Animals croon with Auto-Tune

Elton is a Bengal cat. His owner autotuned his "love me now" voice, and then did a Yass version. Maggie is a Saluki cross who has also been autotuned: a capella | a tempo. And here's a cat fight. To clear your palate, here's the late Mishka the Husky (previously) singing better than Bieber.

More Mishka, not autotuned.

given a choice I would prefer to live in a world where all housepets are autotuned all the time.

so like if any of you has access to sinister superscience with which humans were never meant to tamper, uh, if you get a chance could you do me a solid and autotune all the pets?

I adore the autotuned cat, even if my elderly cat (Totoro) doesn't approve. He kept looking for the cat in my computer last night.

The yass version provokes no response, but the autotuned version had both my cats running over about three seconds in, vigorously head-butting the phone out of the way to try to find the cat behind it.

I had a very musical cat when I was in high school. If you meowed at her using a pitch in her range, she would very often match pitch. She always walked in octaves and fifths on the piano. We also worked up duets of Billy Joel's "Don't Ask Me Why" and Stephen Foster's "Camptown Races." The human singer would get up to a certain syllable, stop, and Signal the cat, who would meow on the right note.

Clumsy as a millipede with all left feet on broken stilts, and a nervous over-groomer, but definitely musical. We used to say that's what the M on her forehead stood for.

Welp, when I played that, Menhit woke up, jumped on my desk, stared intently at Elton, then started looking round the back of my iMac to see where the other cat was hiding.

So.

I played the autotuned video for my pets the other night... my cat didn't even flinch, she kept on what she was doing previously (slow blinking at me, making air biscuits). My miniature pinscher stopped what he was doing, trotted up to my phone, and did the head tilt thing, back and forth, until the phone stopped making those weird sounds.

My youngest cat was also deeply disturbed by the autotune version, although to be fair, the other two did not care at all. Suspiciously, she is also the one who screams at me all the time about literally everything.

Our local feline dictator-for-life's GET UP NOW thing would, I imagine, be quite resistant to auto-tune.

What he does is, he finds yesterday's newspaper, left on the floor next to the bed after last night's crossword-before-sleep session, and scratches it up. CRACKLE CRACKLE RIP RIP RIP CRACKLE CRACKLE CRACKLE RIP CRACKLE RIIIIIIIIIIIP CRACKLE CRACKLE RIP RIPPPPPP RIIIIIIPPP CRACKLE RIP RIP RIP RIP RIP until ms. flabdablet can stand it no longer and gets up and feeds him.

When it's only me in the house, attempting this manoeuvre doesn't get him fed, it gets pillows hurled at him instead. He knows this. We understand each other very well. But she's a gentle soul and he takes liberties because cat.

I might have you beat. My parents used to sleep in a bed with an antique brass bedframe, and one of our cats learned how to tap the foot of the frame with her front paws and make the whole thing resonate.

.....Isn't this a double?

Sigh. The cat tweets didn't show up as previouslies when I was writing it. Mishka did, but I figured there was enough new material to cover for it. Now it turns out half of the links were posted before.

Maybe I should stick with poop.
