I've only started watching this, but I'm glad that more people are talking about non-consensual tech use in everyday life.

Also note that the solutions to these kinds of tech use are not themselves tech-based - we need legislation and social norms for this.

Ryan makes exactly that point near the end of her presentation.

The you holograph is built by all interested parties, government who are you, what did you do, what will you do? Business, how much money do you have to spend, how will you tend to spend it? Crime how much of what you have can be taken, without significant consequence? What do you do of a covert nature we can capitalize upon, what are your prime addictions? Extraction, energy industries, how will you thwart us / how will you be induced to buy more? How can we use this info to manipulate government, what inducements can we offer individual entities in government, based on intel about personal behavior, addiction, financial addiction, and occult criminal activity observed? Spitting out the butt ends of your days and ways is meaningless, once you are pinned and wriggling on the wall at algorithm central. The moving algorithm writes, and having writ, moves on, and all your piety or wit, cannot lure it back to cancel half a line, nor all your tears, wash out a word of it.

(I also enjoyed Lily Ryan's talk at PyConAU Don't Look Back in Anger: Wildman Whitehouse and the Great Failure of 1858 ...)
