Yesterday, CBC Radio Toronto listeners were introduced to a new food truck created by April Lee Falls. "The raccoons that we'll be sourcing come from a wilderness farm... they're eating organic fruits and vegetables.... They've got more space than most people living and renting in this city."

Other well-done April 1st pranks are welcome.

My favorite one this year was boardgame rules-explainer The Dragon's Tomb's take on Chutes & Ladders. (Although to get the context you should watch some of his other videos first, perhaps Clue or Battleship.)

On I've Pet That Dog yesterday the bio read: "My name is Nigel. I am an 8 year old boy who likes petting cats. These are pictures of cats I've pet."

Planetizen (City/ Regional/ Transportation Planning professional site) had some groaners:

- Millennial Confesses: I Was Born in the Suburbs and My Parents Are Baby Boomers
- Florida Man Thought the New Comp Plan Included Zoning Changes
- Self-Driving Cars Still Can't Recognize the Difference Between a Wedding Planner and an Urban Planner
And if those weren't dad-jokey enough, April Fool's Headlines That Didn't Make the Cut

The best one, for the tagline:

A fan of Nine Inch Nails (Trent Reznor himself?) made Strobe Light a reality (Archive.org stream), 10 years after Trent first made the joke album announcement, when "produced by Timbaland" was a relevant thing ;)

And to make sure others see it: Crouton Petting Over IP, MetaFilter's own crouton petting zoo!

[Also, PSA, the crouton petting zoo has a new little feature, so check your garden if you haven't since yesterday.]

(I know this, and now you have to as well: the average lifespan of a raccoon in the wild is 18 months.)

I have to admit, my girlfriend and I totally fell for this and were appropriately shocked and outraged. It wasn't until the evening, when we returned to the topic, that the pieces finally fell into place. Well played, Metro Morning.

I used to work with a fellow paramedic from Eastern Europe (Romania, I think) who would stop the ambulance on the way back to our station and pick up road kill. No dogs or cats; more like wild game - racoons, squirrels, the odd possum.

He'd bring them back (in a bag) and immediately go out the back and skin/filet them. He said they were delicious.

He never offered me any. I guess he saved them for family.

He unfortunately died a few years ago.
