"The right man for the job will be aged between 18 and 21 and will presumably need to demonstrate an abundance of energy and the ability to withstand repeated showers of saliva, the traditional punk rock crowd's sign of respect for performers."

But who is the right man?

I can't think of a single actor to fill Johnny Rotten's shoes. Maybe a member of the current punk scene could do it, the singer for SUM41 or somebody -- he looks kinda (all right, barely) like Lydon.

The young John Hurt would've been OK.

will be aged between 18 and 21

Here in the States we call that "19 or 20".

"John's life experience has been a hybrid of Wayne's World and Decline and we expect that she will create a sublimely rotten film." - Panacea Entertainment

that is one of the stupidest sentences i've ever seen in a press release.

It's been ages since I've seen it, but at the time I thought the guy who played Rotten in Sid and Nancy was spot-on.

Quick trip to imdb tells me it was Andrew Schofield. He is probably getting a bit too old to reprise his role, however.

Now, Bill Murray's Hunter Thompson verses Johnny Depp's Hunter Thompson--there's an interesting question.
