Is it raining where you are?

If it's raining where you are, you can put on "Sunset Mission," the 2000 jazz noir album by Bohren & der Club of Gore (Youtube, Soundcloud). If it's not raining where you are, you can make it rain, and then put on the album.

It is raining where I am. I listened to the first two tracks while watching the rain, mug of tea in my hand, lazy dog at my side. It was perfect.

Back to the rain.

It has been raining for a while now here in Orem, Utah. I too plan to fire up some tea and listen to this, thank you. I also have a CD from the library surplus sale entitled "Jazz for a rainy day" that will go into rotation. Actually, I'm going to use the Alexa. Physical CDs are for the car.

Anyone that’s feeling this vibe should check out their compilation Bohren For Beginners (it’s on Spotify, and probably other places). It’s a very well curated collection that gives a good overview of the subtle evolution they’ve gone through over the past twenty years.

And to not abuse the edit window: looking for recommendations for fellow travelers, current as of five years ago? I made a thread for that!

What a coincidence: I was just proselytising to Zarkonnen about Bohren & der Club of Gore at the weekend. I feel like there used to be a version of Sunset Mission on YouTube with the rain pre-added, and that's where I first came across it. It's sublime either way.

This is excellent for my non-rainy work day (it's raining in my heart?). Thank you so very much. Also thanks to other commenters for more links!

Feels like a Lynchian Joe Frank broadcast.

Yes! Black Earth is one of my favourite albums of all time. Slow music forever.

I luv this drone-jazz stuff. (I also luv my cheap low-tech noise machine, which makes very low resolution loops of songbirds, sea waves, & storms.)
