Drain-cleaning porn

Hi, this channel shows drain cleaning blocked sewer drains using a high pressure water jet machine. The high pressure water hose that cleans the drain has specific nozzles on the end for cutting out tree roots, grease blockages and clearing rubble out of drains. It is a disgustingly dirty and smelly job, but some one has to do it, so it may as well be me. Thanks for taking the time to view my dirty videos. (h/t Miss Cellania)

This is amazing, but I kind of wish he was wearing a face mask. You'd think that'd be necessary when you're standing over a giant pit of NOOOOOPE!! The smells and the splash-back would make me lose my mind.

I’ve seen a demo of one of these things in action. In a clear plastic pipe they shoved a bunch of half inch thick branches with leaves. Up goes the nozzle. Then comes the water. It’s like a blender but instead of steel blades, it’s just water. Really vicious pulverizing water. Out of the end of the pipe came a purée of leaves and wood. Sure beats digging up the pipes.

Why are these so fascinating to watch? He has something like 22,000 subscribers!

As a Florida resident I kinda laughed at the size of those street drains. We have huge open drains that run to retention ponds. But that's because half of the year we have no rain. And then we have massive rains and hurricanes. Somewhere back in time the city planners realised that wide drains and big pipes are the only way to go.

I've done that (dad was a plumber)... They generally have a unique, distinct smell that's not quite the same as feces, the best I've been able to describe it is what I'd imagine as combination of stale, used tampons, body odor, and semen.

Well, actually not quite that snake (that's the name of thedevice that goes up the pipe), my dad's didn't inject water, it was one that just had the metal piece at the end that'd rotate and rip through the clog. 9/10, it was caused by humans throwing things down there they shouldn't have (sanitary pads, diapers, or rags)

Three rules every plumber learns first day on the job:
1) Payday's Friday.
2) Shit runs downhill.
3) Don't chew your fingernails.

It's like a big version of earwax removals. (Anyone wanting some good ones can search Audiology Associates UK).

WHY IS THIS SO SATISFYING???

We had the gutters of our house cleaned out today, and I was disappointed I wasn't home for it when I found out they just walk around on the roof and use a pressure washer to clean everything out. (Not sure why I had assumed paid professionals would be scooping out half decayed leaves with their hands or something.)

I worked alongside a father-son crew who did sanitary sewer inspection and clearing. They were hilarious. They always wore rubber gloves, but the gloves were usually torn up really bad. The best part was seeing the son sitting on the tailgate of his truck one day, eating a sandwich with his raggedy gloves still on. They both seemed really healthy, though

There is the drain snake story that I have heard more than once but I think is less apocryphal than just not rare. It involves snaking a drain on an upper floor of a multi unit building. It is described as a tough fight but ultimately successful with the extraction of an entire bath towel and the attendant head scratching “how’d that get in there.”

The story continues with an outraged call the same evening from another tenant complaining that they never gave permission for a worker to come into their apartment and what were they doing anyway, they had trashed the bathroom, smearing the walls, ripping down the shower curtain, wiping their grime off on the towels and even stealing one.

The vision of spinning snake emerging from the toilet and proceeding to flail wildly around the bathroom before wadding up a towel and retreating back to wherever it came from is pretty good but now I guess there is a new version with a tree root cutting water cannon like some kind of awful bidet horror film.
