Goat. LARP.

The Jibe-iT goat farm in Redding, CT, USA, is hosting what may be the world's first GOAT LARP this June. Not a Live Action Role Playing game (LARP) where you play a goat, but a LARP for the goats: "Goat Larp is a 1 day live action roleplaying event at a goat farm in southern Connecticut. Attend in-costume as any character you want and help run live adventures for the goats."

Previously this was known as Confuse-A-Goat and was held on random days throughout the year based on the whims of individual locals. Now it's an organized event, on a single day, obviously striving to drive all the goats insane at the same time, possibly with a goal of world domination.

GOAT LARP!

I wish it were closer. We need worldwide GOAT LARP.

Mandatory worldwide GOAT LARP. Everything stops for one day for everyone on the planet to confuse goats. I support this as a UN initiative.

What character would goats most like to see played versus what character goats would believe me as...

Given that a long-standing event in the international gay rodeo circuit is goat dressing (in which a pair of underpants needs to be successfully put on a goat by a team of two)... I am entirely not sure which they would prefer to see you play versus which they would like to see you play.

Oh ok, not Gronk rapping about Brady.

Greatest of all time LARP? Goat LARP as in Goat Simulator?

Wait, what, actual goats? Ok, sure, fine! Why not! Let's go confuse some goats. Goats are wacky.

Turnabout is fair play.

Came for the goat LARP, stayed for the pantsing of goats. We truly are living in strange times.
Party on, little Sauron and Frodo. Don't get too close to the bonfire.

I love the idea of this: In the evening, we'll have a bonfire where you can sacrifice old larp stuff.

I expect it to be accompanied by stentorian declaration/description of the things being burned.

Frodo??!?
Not hardly. Every goat wants to LARP as Satan. Mostly they like dressing up (and chewing on) the costumes, staying in character comes naturally.

In a later post the author says it didn't work great when playtested, but here's a goat character class for old style D&D.

When we were little, we put a pair of Dad's old shorts on the dog, backwards so his tail could come out the fly. He was a really good sport about it

I really hope these are all female goats. Male goats are much less fun to play with.

Every goat wants to LARP as Satan

Indeed. One night one of our goats got loose. It was a very cold and dark night (Vermont in January). I was in my office, the window of which looked out into the woods. That meant all it showed that night was darkness, since no human creations were visible in that direction (very remote location).

Suddenly the goat's face appeared. White, shiny in my office's lights, completely surrounded by darkness, and grinning at me.

In that moment I understood the medieval iconography of Satan as a goat.
