Abortion: Listen wherever you're listening to this podcast

Take some time to learn about the history of abortion in the United States through listening to This is Criminal's episode on "The Clergy Consultation Service, an underground network of ministers and rabbis who wanted to help women access safe abortions." Science Vs. covers "“self-helpers” Carol Downer and Francie Hornstein, who led a movement for safe abortions and education for women by women." Or step inside to listen more about present day experiences. posted by CMcG (3 comments total) 23 users marked this as a favorite

Thank you for posting. A lot to look through when I can, later this week.

(I know Phoebe Judge's tagline is "This is Criminal," but the show is just called Criminal. And it is excellent.)

Science Vs. is a fun podcast but I dislike the near-constant advertising. However this particular episode, about that so-taboo subject, has no advertising. Even Bob's Red Mill refused to touch it.

Also, it was a really great episode. I'd heard about the Jane group, the Chicago-based group of women who were doing abortions, but not the group in LA. Well done, them.
