Enough gothic music to darken the daystar

If you've fully tapped Cleopatra Records Occult Box (Bandcamp; discogs) and want some new darkness to descend upon your ears, the German At Sea Compilations label has five volumes of La Danse Macabre on Bandcamp, full of independent gothic, gothic rock, darkwave and related bands: the original, volumes two, three, four and five. Bonus: Goth Box (YouTube playlist, almost completely recompiling the 1996 Cleo Recs VHS, as listed on Discogs).

The missing tracks/ videos from the Goth Box:
- Christian Death - Romeo's Distress (fan-made music video?)
- The Chameleons - In Shreds (Live at the Camden Palace, UK, 1985)
- Corpus Delicti - Absent Friend (live, but the song title at the beginning looks like it could be from the original Cleo VHS)

And a bonus-bonus comp: Not So Cold "A Warm Wave Compilation" by Tacuara Records (Discogs).

Hey! I have Goth Box in CD form on my shelf right now! :)

Okay, weird, my version of Goth Box (Cleopatra Records, 1996) has different songs, and definately a different order. For example instead of starting with Switchblade Symphony - Clown, is has Switchblade Symphony - Dissolve on disk 2. Looks like they completely redid it for audio CDs. Probably because they didn't need videos.

Oho! Time to set about finding stuff I like and/or stuff someone I know will like. Cheers!

Yeah, the VHS is a limited tracklist, compared to the 4CD audio-only edition.

Also, Not So Cold is significantly expanded on Amazon and other platforms.

OK, final final bonus bonus link: Cleopatra Recs included a tracklist for Tamara Sky's nonstop mix on Soundcloud as a comment, so if you're listening to that and wondering "what is this particular dark magic?" you can now know.

$6 for the (digital) Occult Box on Bandcamp is a steal, that's a fun mix that is all over the place. It's time to retire that Leaders of Men demo, though.

Just a quick warning that Romeo's Distress opens with a racial slur, in case that bothers you

Cleopatra is a pretty scummy bootleg label with questionable sourcing/licensing/ethics

anazgnos: Can you please expand on that? I've long viewed Cleopatra as a cheap label based on many of its releases but I don't really know anything about it or its practices.

Woah, flashbacks. I smell clove cigarettes and my hands hurt from falling down in the street outside.

Wow, this is awesome and I just bought all of it! What a nice way to start the weekend.

Thanks for this trip down memory lane. Switchblade Symphony, especially, takes me right back to my heady goth club days of the 1990s. Love it!

I'm afraid I can't get into the Die Krupps version of 1000 Homo DJs "Supernaut," although I did try. I don't think there's any way the original version could ever be topped. To this day I still love it as much as I did when I first heard it in the early 1990s.
