The Pheromones' "YuppieDrone" Could this be the most '80s song that ever '80ed? "Brothers from another mother" Jimmy Pheromone and Alvis Pheromone present a tale of early '80s ennui.

“Yuppie Drone”: The Pheromones’ & the serious business of American-style free speech and satire
More recently, yuppie seems to have just become a word describing the nouveau riche men who have recently acquired wealth, but also lack good taste, and they can’t wait to show off the new outlandish items they’ve bought not realizing what a fool they’re making of themselves by displaying it for everyone to see what shitty taste they have.
...
Subsequent other verses list other work and lifestyle-related choices, like carpooling in morning traffic, working for a large corporation (“that treats me like POOP”), wearing a suit and tie every day, and, finally, meeting up with his “lady-person,” with whom he shares a lot of common interests, including cocaine (“TOOT”), jogging and jacuzzis, margaritas and (egads!) Jimmy Buffett.

I'm amazed that 1) I've never looked up the lyrics before, and 2) I still have the first three verses memorized, except with a bunch of words not-quite-right because I was in elementary school and didn't actually understand what the song was about. It just cracked me up.
I must have listened to it on repeat for hours. Cranked up to threeeeee

Vaguely related, the Antipodean equivalent was 'Die Yuppie Die' by Painters & Dockers, which isn't a very 80's style song (but it does have a saxophone which sort of counts?). I always thought the band name was a piss-take of Hunters & Collectors but that appears not to be the case.

The mortgage rate reference - 4.95% year one through three, 7.95% years three through thirtyfive - is what really drove home that this is from 1985.

I had no idea there was a tiny little corner of my brain that still remembered this song.

I lived in DC during the 80s, saw them a gazillion times, and have what might be a complete collection of their releases, including the 7” of “Feminine Deodorant Spray Makes Me Sneeze” (which I should not have searched for on YouTube) and a few self-released cassettes adorned merely with track list stickers. I now have plans for the weekend, is what I’m trying to say.

Yeah, this. I would have said I had never heard of them or of the song, but about halfway through I realized, yes, I heard this a bunch of times back then, without ever really listening to it.
