The second in what will be a trilogy, coming after the Pulitzer Prize winning and all around incredible Become Ocean (Bandcamp link), is John Luther Adams' newest and equally incredible work Become Desert (NPR link with Spotify stream).

I saw (heard? witnessed? I'm suddenly at a loss for the right verb) the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra perform Become Ocean a few years ago and it is an absolutely incredible piece to hear performed live. I had seen something about Become Desert recently but hadn't dug to much to find it, so thanks for posting this!

This looks great. The CD comes with a 5.1 mix? Oh, I'm totally sold. Beyond Ocean was truly great.

I do hate that NPR is doing streaming service links instead of hosting the music themselves. It means I don't get to listen. I used to listen to a lot of upcoming music on NPR and ended up buying quite a lot of it. Now I just read about it on NPR, and I don't buy as much music as I used to.

hippybear, I agree. To NPR’s credit, they do host it themselves during the first listen period but move to streaming services after the release.

CD/DVD ordered. (Along with a copy of the Mueller Report, because I'm tired of being reminded by NPR that "most Americans haven't read it". It rounded me up to free shipping.
