This sucks not only in the mistreatment of non-straight-white-cis-het-malewriters and characters, but also in how little faith current day Marvel seems to have in its own characters and in its audience, and how they seem to be pretty clueless as to what makes mutants and the X-Men such a long lasting and powerful narrative and is a mix of like 15 different things that piss me off.

Welcome to the s---show that is the comics industry. It is often surprising that anything really great gets out.

Does Marvel comics have investors that can sue the company for refusing to make money or good comics?

They literally have the ability to print money, and continually seem to have amazing hires and good ideas the company does not deserve--great ideas that they then bury because of racism, misogyny, and homophobia.

Ah, well... there's this thing called "Comics Gate"*, which is basically the dumbest assholes on the internet who've had the idea of going after Marvel for "refusing to make money or good comics", but, uh, from the other angle.

Sometimes I wonder if its origins being so steeped in metaphor makes it paradoxically hard for it to deal with things in non metaphorical terms. Certainly an awful lot seems to have gone zooming over the heads of people who have been steeped in this stuff for decades and you would have expected to have absorbed at least something by now.

Then again, the X-Men have mostly been in a loop of doing the same thing over and over since the Claremont days so being stuck in the past IS kind of appropriate?
