I don’t think that’s a typewriter. Mechanical calculator?

I don’t think that’s a typewriter. Mechanical calculator?

And it's not cut in half- the case has been removed.

I love cutaways, but lament that there’s not a place where I can get, say, a high quality poster of a Panhard 24 in cutaway. Life is unfair.

The “Typewriter” is a Marchant EFA mechanical calculator. The image is identified in this Wired article about artist Kevin Twomey’s photo series on low tech and calculators - which is well worth a look around if this is your bag.

Also, six comments in and no one has made the obvious “this is only half a post” gag yet?

Yes! These are amazing! When I stumbled upon the gifs of Amaury Guichon's work a few months ago, my goal in life immediately became to eat one of those ridiculously decadent desserts.

The carefree way in which we smashed the coverglass of the compass cake was just joyfully reckless. I just cant imagine eating that cake, I'd just be timidly nibbling around the edges for hours while trying not to break it.

I too thought that these were all pastries, and my mind boggled at the mechanical calculator cake.
