This post wouldn't be complete without eastern Europe's favorite cat and mouse team, Worker and Parasite.

Social realism or socialist realism?

In Russia, The Simpsons are tired of YOU.

(and in Russia, Yakov Smirnov can't get a laugh out of YOU)

That was...oddly compelling.

I just dropped by with present for warming of house. Instead, find you grappling with local oaf.

Did you love this almost as much as you love cameras?

Oh I just remembered I meant to post this as well: WEIRD SIMPSONS VHS. Very reminiscent of the old animations they used to play on MTV back in the day.

And of course there's the shocking Banksy opening, which I believe actually aired.

Dead Bart

Thanks, I hate it.

That was great - worth repeated views to catch all the details. In the wake of HBO's success with Chernobyl, the world really would benefit from a soviet era Simpsons equivalent, I feel.
(I'd recommend Sergei Sputnikoff's Ushanka Show channel for an authoritative source on what day to day life was like in the USSR). The author grew up in Kiev during the 1970s and 80s.

The Simpsons, having begun airing in 1989, is technically Soviet-era.
